When Using SaaS Makes Sense (And When It Doesn’t)

According to a popular aphorism, “You can’t expect to meet the challenges of today with yesterday’s tools and expect to be in business tomorrow.” No one would disagree; why stick to pencil and paper today, when computers are available? The difficulty lies in knowing when adopting new technology would be beneficial to one’s business. Currently, the corporate world is experiencing growing pains around cloud computing and technologies like SaaS, or Software as a Service. The main difference between SaaS and traditional software is distribution. SaaS is not sold for individual, local use, but is provided as needed through the Internet. As trendy as SaaS is right now, there are times when a SaaS solution just doesn’t make sense. At other times, there is little reason not to choose SaaS. This article will suggest when SaaS makes sense from a business perspective.
